Dubhlinn (pronounced Dovelynn)

A potted history

Most Irish towns have several versions of their townlands name written in the native Irish language. Dubhlinn, is an Irish name for Doolin, which, as it happens, is also a version of the Irish name for Dublin.

The English translation for this is "black lake", Dubh is Irish for black and linn is Irish for pool or lake. The Doolin "black lake" is said to have been on what is now O'Connor's B&B and campsite, directly opposite Dubhlinn B&B.

(Funnily enough, we didn't know this when we were naming the house - we thought it was just a good fit, seeing as we are originally from Dublin, now living in Doolin...)
